Quickstart

Put your first folder in Wiele, either by pasting one prompt into your AI tool or by running the commands yourself.

Both routes end the same way: an organization on a 7-day trial, a workspace, and a local folder connected to it with its first version saved. You need a Mac or a Linux machine, an email address and a card for the trial. Nothing is charged during the trial.

To sign up by clicking instead, create your account in the web app, then install the CLI and sign in with the same email, as in steps 1 to 3 of route 2.

Route 1: paste a prompt into your AI tool

Copy this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any AI tool that can run terminal commands. It's the same prompt as the button on the home page.

Set up Wiele for me. Wiele (wiele.io) keeps my work folders in the cloud with every version saved, so my team, our AI tools and I work on the same files.

Use the terminal and tell me what you're doing in one line per step. Only stop to ask me for my email, the sign-in code and to add a card.

1. Run `node --version`. Wiele needs Node 24.20 or newer. If it's missing or older, install it the way this machine does (Homebrew, nvm or nodejs.org) and carry on.
2. Install the CLI with `npm install -g wiele`, then run `wiele version`.
3. Ask for my email. Run `wiele auth start --email EMAIL --json` and keep the challenge ID. Ask me for the 6-digit code from the email, then run `printf %s CODE | wiele auth verify --challenge ID --code-stdin`.
4. Create my organization with `wiele org create "NAME"`, named after my company (ask if you can't tell), then run `wiele org use SLUG`.
5. Start the 7-day free trial with `wiele billing checkout --plan starter` and give me the link. I add a card on Stripe's page; nothing is charged during the trial. When I say it's done, check that `wiele billing status` says trialing.
6. Create a workspace with `wiele workspace create "My work"`.
7. Make a folder `~/Wiele/my-work` with a short README.md saying what it's for. Connect it with `wiele track my-work:/ ~/Wiele/my-work`, then save it with `wiele push --directory ~/Wiele/my-work -m "First file"`.
8. Check it landed with `wiele ls my-work:/`. Tell me it's done, that I can open it at https://app.wiele.io, and that I can ask you to put any other folder in Wiele the same way.

If a command fails, read the error and the `next:` line under it and fix it. If you use skills, run `wiele skills install --directory /tmp/wiele-skills` and move the three folders it writes into your skills folder, so you know how to use Wiele next time.

The agent stops three times: to ask for your email, for the 6-digit code from the sign-in email, and for you to add a card on Stripe's page. In our test runs this took about 3 minutes, most of it the install and the card form.

Route 2: run the commands yourself

  1. Check Node. Wiele needs Node 24.20 or newer.

    node --version

If it's missing or older, install it with Homebrew, nvm or from nodejs.org. See Install.

  2. Install the CLI.

    npm install -g wiele
    wiele version

  3. Sign in. wiele login asks for your email, sends a code and asks for the code.

    wiele login

  4. Create your organization and make it the default for later commands. org create prints the slug.

    wiele org create "Acme"
    wiele org use acme

  5. Start the 7-day trial. The command prints a Stripe link; open it and add a card. When you're done, billing status shows trialing.

    wiele billing checkout --plan starter
    wiele billing status

  6. Create a workspace.

    wiele workspace create "My work"

  7. Connect a local folder and save its first version. track creates the remote folder if it's missing; push uploads the files.

    mkdir -p ~/Wiele/my-work
    echo "# My work" > ~/Wiele/my-work/README.md
    wiele track my-work:/ ~/Wiele/my-work
wiele push --directory ~/Wiele/my-work -m "First version"

  8. Check it landed.

    wiele ls my-work:/

The folder is now in Wiele. Open it at app.wiele.io, or keep working in ~/Wiele/my-work and push again whenever you want to save a version.
