Is Wiele a cloud drive?
It stores folders in the cloud like a drive, but changes move by explicit push and pull, or by background sync, not by a mounted disk. Each push is one revision covering every file it changed, so you can see and undo a whole change at once. Why file storage needs rethinking for AI work explains the reasoning.
Do I need Git?
No. Wiele uses Git internally for history, but you never run Git. Your files are ordinary files in ordinary folders.
Which file types work?
Any. Documents, spreadsheets, images, PDFs, code and binaries all store, sync and keep versions the same way. A single file can be up to 10 GB.
Which AI tools work with Wiele?
Any agent that can run terminal commands, such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, through the CLI. MCP clients that send a bearer token connect to the MCP server. claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors can't connect yet, because they need OAuth.
Can my agent see files I can't?
No. An agent uses your session and gets exactly your access. Give it a copy if you want to review its changes before they reach main.
Does Wiele read or train on my files?
No. Wiele doesn't use your files to train AI models and doesn't send them to AI model providers. It stores them and their versions for you and the people you share them with. See the privacy policy.
What happens when two people edit the same file?
The second push fails with PUSH_CONFLICT and publishes nothing. That person pulls with --keep-local, combines the two versions and pushes again. Nobody's work is overwritten. See Conflicts and merging.
Can I get an old version back?
Yes. Every pushed version is kept unless an owner or admin set a retention rule that removed it. Use wiele history to find it and wiele restore or wiele get --revision to get it. See Versions, history and retention.
Does Wiele work offline?
Your checkout is a normal folder, so you can work in it offline. Push when you're back online.
Does it work on Windows?
Not yet. The CLI runs on macOS and Linux, including containers and cloud sandboxes.
Can I search my files on the server?
Not for now. Fetch the folder and search it locally with your own tools; agents do this with rg or grep.
How much does it cost?

Do agents count as members?
No. An agent acts as the person whose session it uses.
How do I delete my data?
Owners and admins can archive workspaces and prune old versions. To close an account and delete its data, email hello@wiele.io.
